A creator’s work can reach someone outside the feed where it first appeared. A review may be referenced in a buying discussion, a recommendation, or an AI-assisted search. That gives the creator’s identity a job beyond attracting attention inside a single platform.
The industry signal
In research released September 9, 2026, IAB reported that 56% of surveyed consumers preferred AI shopping recommendations that incorporated creator perspectives. The study covered 2,200 people in five countries who had recently used AI for shopping research. It describes that group, not all consumers. Credibility, consistency, and expertise were among the reported factors behind creator trust. Read IAB’s research announcement.
IAB’s separate 2025 creator advertising report also identifies finding appropriate creator partners as a challenge for brands. These are related questions: whether an audience trusts a voice, and whether a potential partner can understand its fit. Read the creator advertising report overview.
Our take: make the expertise easy to name
A short biography should give someone a useful description of your work. What do you create, who is it for, and what experience do you bring? Avoid stretching that description to cover every opportunity. A specific introduction gives a prospective collaborator something concrete to evaluate.
Support that introduction with selected work. A portrait identifies the person; examples establish what the person does. Keep the two close together on a portfolio or media page, with a clear contact route and current information.
Build a portrait system that survives the crop
Choose a recognizable primary portrait for profiles, then create supporting images for different contexts. A press introduction may need a horizontal frame with room for text. A profile page may need a square. A performance or creator portfolio may benefit from several expressions and levels of formality.
The aim is coherence. If wardrobe, color, expression, and lighting pull in unrelated directions, the collection can make a simple introduction harder to read. Give each variation a reason tied to the work or audience, and keep retouching close to your real appearance.
Keep the audience and opportunity in focus
This research is about shopping and creator perspectives. It does not establish how casting directors select actors, and it should not dictate a performer’s casting materials. An actor who also creates content may need a clear distinction between an acting portfolio and a brand-partnership introduction.
- Check your public introduction. Make the name, portrait, and description consistent across your main professional profiles.
- Select three representative examples. Show the work that best supports the opportunities you want.
- Prepare useful crops. Keep approved square, vertical, and horizontal options where you can find them quickly.
